Norwich's smallest pub Malt and Mardle launches online shop

Malt and Mardle in Magdalen Street opened in July 2021 and the team has since been hard at work to expand its carefully curated selection of craft ales and local brews.

Run by couple Emily Bridges and Elliot Dransfield, the tiny boozer continues to go from strength to strength despite the cost of living challenges.

Ms Bridges said: "We are really pleased to have launched our online shop and we are really excited to grow this side of the business.

"Craft beer is big in this city and with it being a tough time for hospitality businesses like us, it seemed like a no-brainer to take our selection of crafted products online.

"We’ve worked really hard building the new website totally ourselves, essentially from scratch while also keeping the micropub going."

People can buy their favourite tipples from the site for click-and-collect from the pub and shortly nationwide shipping will be available. 

There are also plans to continue expanding the pub's offerings, with hopes to branch out into craft spirits and more.

The 27-year-old added: "We've been open a year and a half now and we are really happy that the business is going in the right direction. 

"We are feeling really positive despite the obvious challenges due to the cost of living crisis."

As well as launching an online store, the pair have also invested in refreshing the pub's space, creating new seating areas.

"We are always looking at ways to make the pub better and better," said Ms Bridges, adding: "We decided to close for a couple of weeks in January to make some updates and have had a bit of a refresh and now have new benches which will mean more customers can take a seat."
