An independent Norwich bookshop has been nominated for a national award.
Bookbugs and Dragon Tales in Timber Hill has been nominated in the British Book Awards 2023 for the Independent Bookshop of the Year award.
It will go forward to compete to win within the East of England first, before vying for the overall national prize.
A total of 59 independent bookshops from across Britain and Ireland have been listed in the nominations.
Bookbugs and Dragon Tales, owned by Dan and Leanne Fridd since 2019, were last year’s regional winners for the East of England.
Tom Tivnan, chair of the Independent Bookshop of the Year judges, said: "If there is one thing that has been driven home by these finalists it is that independent bookshops have been one of the winners of the pandemic.
"Indies have come through what could have been a hugely devastating time for the sector in their strongest position in decades.
"We have entered a new golden age for independent bookshops."
A Crowdfunder launched by the shop to help "plug the gaps" in 2022 amassed more than £20,000 in donations from kind-hearted people across the world, including Russell Crowe.
