Norfolk-based Angling Direct has reeled in record UK sales of £77.4m during the last year after continued growth.

Starting as just a single tackle shop in Wroxham, in 1986, the retailer has become Britain's largest fishing tackle retailer with a 7.6pc increase in store sales from last year.

UK and European online sales also saw a bump, up 11.1pc to £32.9m and 36.3pc to £4.3m respectively.

That contributed to profit before tax more than doubling from 700,000 to £1.5m, in the 12 months ending January 31, 2024.

Overall revenue for the company, which has its head office at Rackheath Industrial Estate, increased by 10.2pc to £81.7m.

The business owns almost 50 fishing tackle and equipment shops across the UK.

The company also opened three new UK stores this year and its first European store, in the Netherlands, while continuing to have German, French and Dutch language websites.
