A man has been charged with robbery and assault offences after armed police swarmed a city street following two knifepoint robberies.
The charge follows a series of incidents in Norwich on Sunday that led to police warning people to "lock their doors" after a man clambered onto rooftops.
The dramatic siege saw Angel Road locked down after two armed robberies - at Silver Road Post Office and Angel Stores between 4pm and 6pm.
Emergency services were called after a 20-year-old armed with a knife entered the NR3 businesses and asked for money.
A police armed response vehicle, a police negotiator, a fire engine and an ambulance arrived amid efforts to persuade the man to come down.
After a standoff of nearly an hour, he was arrested on suspicion of two counts of robbery, attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon.
He was then taken to Aylsham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Leon Meminaj, 20, of Rouen Road in Norwich, has subsequently been charged with robbery, attempted robbery, assault with intent to rob and two offences of possession of a bladed article.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court this morning.
