The A11 has reopened after being blocked for almost 24 hours.

The northbound carriageway was closed between Wymondham and the Thickthorn roundabout at around 6.45am on Thursday.

A lorry carrying a fuel pump had overturned at Hethersett.

Police, fire, ambulance crews were called to the scene and the man who had been driving was taken to hospital.

The extent of his injuries currently remains unknown.

National Highways contractors were onboarded to recover the vehicle, clear a diesel spill caused by a ruptured fuel tank and mend a damaged barrier.

They also worked through the night to repair the road surface. 

Traffic was diverted via the B1172 at Hethersett until the road reopened at 6am on Friday, November 1.
