A fresh application has been lodged for 200 homes on a Norwich city centre site - because existing planning permission is about to run out.
A key part of redevelopment of the former Jarrold's printworks site at Whitefriars, off Barrack Street, is for 200 homes.
Norwich City Council gave the go-ahead for the homes in 2007, but building has yet to start and permission is about to expire.
Applicant Jarrold St James Ltd has gone back to the city council hoping for the outline planning permission to be effectively renewed, giving them another five years to build the homes before it lapses again.
Other development has happened on the 4.8 hectare site, with a number of offices built and occupied, Work has started on a new bridge across the River Wensum. The site is also earmarked for shops and a 60-bed hotel.
A spokesman for the developers stressed it was an application to renew the permission and not to alter the proposals.
He said: 'We are not intending to change the proposals but wish to secure a new consent before the current permission expires.'
