Offensive, crass and clumsy? Surely, because of its situation, the Antony Gormley sculpture is doing exactly what it should. Provoking discussion.
Being one of our most celebrated and well-loved artists, we should be excited to have his figure atop the UEA library.
To offer a critique of a piece of art, is to look below the surface, to try and understand what the artist was hoping to demonstrate.
Antony Gormley's figures have been enjoyed by the people of London, New York and Rio de Janeiro. I hope that Robin Limmer isn't suggesting the good people of Norwich are too faint hearted to cope.
Crass indeed!
