Top marks have been awarded to both the boys' and girls' toilets at Wisbech Grammar School, which were transformed during the summer.
The building won national acclaim following a surprise visit by official inspectors.
Extensive judging criteria looked at 100 different aspects including signage, d�cor, fixtures and fittings and overall standards of cleanliness and management.
In the end, however, and after inspecting others from across the country, top marks went to the school's entry into the 2011 Loo of the Year competition.
Head teacher Nicholas Hammond said: 'This is an investment in fundamentals and it is about treating the children with real respect. '
The sparkling make over picked up a five-star rating in the national Loo of the Year Awards.
They also took the title of 'national category winner' after achieving the highest aggregate score out of 57 education sector entries from male and female toilets in the United Kingdom.'
The awards have been identifying the best in Britain since 1987 and are recognised as standard setters for all those who provide 'away from home' facilities for staff, customers and visitors.
