A shoddy-looking shelter has been given a colourful coat of paint by a group of students.
The youth shelter, located in Fitzmaurice Park, was redecorated after the run down piece of equipment had been left to rust, as part of a joint project with Thorpe Town Council and Thorpe Sixth Form.
Edith Hewetson-Reney, one of the 13 students who took part in the revamp of the shelter, said: "The idea behind the bench design was to create a bright, simple and fun image to bring a new life to the area.
"The theme of 'environmental change' is represented with the two tall wind turbines on the planet, with the bees and flowers linking in as well, and essentially add more colour and vibrancy to the aesthetic.
"We chose this theme because of the current situation surrounding global warming and to draw attention to these issues, but also to show that there can be a positive future ahead."
