A Norwich pub and deli owner has slammed tax rises as leaving middle earners forgotten.
Dawn Hopkins, of the Rose Inn, appeared on the national ITV news yesterday (November 18) during an item about new plans from the chancellor.
Jeremy Hunt was defending his proposed tax rises and spending cuts against claims they unfairly target middle earners.
He said people want to see government tackle the problems like runaway inflation.
The Institute for Fiscal Studies has said in that as a result British people have just got a lot poorer.
The six-year freeze on income tax thresholds means 3.2million more people will pay tax and 2.6million more will pay the 40p rate.
Dawn Hopkins, from the Rose Inn, is worried that the squeezed middle has been forgotten and is worried about the future.
"It's disappointing beyond belief," she said.
"Obviously it will help pensioners and people on benefits, that's fine.
"But why should we be the ones to miss out on everything."
Labour has also responded to the tax increase saying that said people are paying for Tory mistakes.
Keir Starmer said that the government, having already done "huge damage to the economy", has gone after working people with stealth taxes and done nothing about the super-rich.
