They took a crumbling old Norfolk farmhouse and converted it into a luxury day centre for dogs.
Now, the team behind Tom and Toto have won a national award for their efforts.
The company was named dog daycare business of the year at the National Pet Industry Federation Awards.
The award recognises the firm's success in converting the former farmhouse at White House Farm, in Sprowson, into a dog haven which can cater for up to 33 animals a day.
Sarah Wright, Tom and Toto director, said: “I am so proud of my team and what we have achieved.
“It was always my goal to open a daycare centre and it be the best in the country so I am over the moon to have won the award.”
The day centre features cosy rest spots, play equipment and secure, extensive gardens.
