Councillors are urging executives to keep a city bank open after a global giant announced a series of branch closures across UK towns and cities.
HSBC will be closing 114 high street banks next year, including the branch in Mile Cross Lane, Norwich, on July 25.
Labour Party city councillors Jake Huntley, Vaughan Thomas and Vivian Thomas, county councillor Chrissie Rumsby and Alice MacDonald, Labour parliamentary candidate for Norwich North, wrote a joint letter to HSBC chief executive, Ian Stuart.
It said: "We are concerned this closure will have a disproportionate impact on older, disabled and financially excluded people.
"The nearest alternative HSBC branch is in Norwich city centre and takes over half an hour to reach by public transport and is an additional cost.
"In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, people need access to financial services and their local bank more than ever and it is also within this context that we urge you to keep this branch open."
