From food halls to a fine dining restaurant, these new openings have been creating a buzz in Norwich.

1. Yalm, The Royal Arcade 

Yalm, which is a Norfolk dialect word that means "to eat hungrily", opened at the end of November in the former home of Jamie's Italian in The Royal Arcade.

It boasts two floors of independent kitchens, ranging from Eric's Pizza to Flying Saucers with a cheese and charcuterie conveyor belt.

2. Castle Social, Castle Quarter 

Fast food chains have been swapped for local street food kiosks at the new Castle Social food hall on the top floor of the Castle Quarter, with the Pinker and Green bar at the centre. 

The traders are Hank's Dirty, serving a fully vegan menu, Mamma Mia, with Italian dishes from the team behind Sicily Trattoria in the city, and The Street Food Box with 'dirty' burgers and loaded fries.

3. Boston House, Orford Street 

Chef Tim Irven opened Boston House in November, serving tasting menus and small plates utilising local and seasonal ingredients.

It is Mr Irven's second business in the city as he has also run Bun Box on Norwich Market for five years, which is spread across four stalls and serves Japanese street food and bao buns.

4. Masa at The Warwick Arms, Warwick Street 

The Warwick Arms, previously the Warwick Street Social, was recently taken on by husband-and-wife duo Nick and Briony De'Ath, who are behind a number of city pubs including The Unthank Arms and William and Florence. 

Taco kitchen Masa, run by Max Denny, has a residency there on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 6pm to 9pm with a choice of buttermilk chicken, Korean pork or vegan satay cauliflower.

5.  Food Hall revamp at Jarrold, Exchange Street 

The Food Hall in the basement of department store Jarrold has just undergone a revamp, which includes a new wine bar deli offering cheese and charcuterie. 

There is also a refrigerated cheese room, packed with local varieties, and a freezer stocking fine dining meals from Norwich-based Farmyard Frozen
