Match of the Day presenter Gary Lineker has backed a campaign to build a statue of Justin Fashanu in Norwich.
The former England star also appears to have donated almost £1,000 to a fundraiser set up by Norwich City LGBTQ+ fan group, Proud Canaries.
It is hoped the campaign will raise £150,000 to fund a bust with an accompanying memorial garden paying tribute to the Canaries hero.
One donation of $1,000 (the site uses dollars as its currency) is listed on the site as being from 'Gary Lineker'.
In a tweet Lineker described the fundraiser as a "great initiative" saying it would be "shining a light on the ongoing battle for LGBTQ+ representation in football".
The Justin Fashanu statue campaign is a great initiative. Commemorating Britain’s first openly gay professional footballer and shining a light on the ongoing battle for LGBTQ+ representation, in football. Watch the campaign video to learn more: #JFSC
