From brunch with a twist to authentic Italian dishes, these are the best places our journalists ate at in Norwich in 2022.
1. The Kimchi, Brigg Street
Louisa Baldwin said: "This Korean restaurant deserves all the success it has been getting and it has brought something completely new to Norwich.
"The couple that run it are two of the nicest restaurateurs in the city and the food is packed with flavour and is also very reasonably priced - the Bibimbap rice bowl and Korean fried chicken (its own version of KFC) are especially good."
2. JC Pinto, St John Maddermarket
Jessica Long said: "Brunch is my favourite meal of the day and I am always looking for new places to try.
"Luckily for me, JC Pinto opened in the former home of The Iron House this year and it offers a range of unique brunch dishes, as well as the classics.
"I tucked into a delicious cheese toastie filled with bacon and red onion chutney but got instant food envy when I saw people eating the banoffee pancakes complete with white chocolate and caramelised banana."
3. Jive, Exchange Street
Maya Derrick said: "A party from start to finish. Whether it be cocktails or wrapping your gob around a burrito brimming with fillings, you're in for an absolute treat.
"A perfect spot for a boozy lunch or to share plates with friends for dinner - all accompanied by fantastic views over Norwich Market."
4. Yalm, Royal Arcade
Kate Wolstenholme said: "Yalm exceeded all my hopes and expectations. It was so fun and looking over the Royal Arcade was so lovely.
"The food came really quickly and the staff were super friendly. The vibe was perfect - so chilled and classy and I can't wait to go back and try one of the other vendors."
5. Ciscoe's Pan Asian & Sushi, Ber Street
Richard Porritt said: "Long a brilliant restaurant, this year's refurb has taken it right to the top of Norwich’s foodie tree.
Benedicts? Yes. Haggle? Love it. Yard? Brilliant. But Ciscoes does the best Japanese food I’ve had outside of Japan. A great experience and a real treat. Book now!"
6. Biddy's Tea Room, Lower Goat Lane
Emma Lee said: "A grim, rainy November day was brightened up by afternoon tea at Biddy's Tea Room in Norwich. For starters, it's a gorgeous setting - the vintage styling makes you feel like you're sitting in your great aunt's best parlour.
"And then the lovely staff present you with three tiers of complete deliciousness - chunky finger sandwiches, scones still warm from the oven served with lashings of butter and a generous slab of cake, plus unlimited tea or coffee from a dazzling array of blends."
7. Benoli, Orford Street
Georgina Taylor said: "I could have eaten everything on the menu. Every course was delicious and they use local ingredients which is brilliant.
"But the star of the show for me was the 24-month parmesan croquettes. I still think about them to this day."
8. The Coach and Horses, Bethel Street
Dan Grimmer said: "A great place to head for tapas, with tasty, good value food and friendly staff.
"The menu includes ham hock hash, lamb, goat's cheese and red onion marmalade sliders and beer-battered cod goujons. There is a good choice of real ales from local breweries too.
"A popular spot with people fancying a bite to eat before enjoying a show at the nearby Theatre Royal, so be sure to book ahead."
9. L'Hexagone, Lower Goat Lane
Stuart Anderson said: "It may still be relatively new, but this traditional French bistro is already building a strong following.
"The steak and chips I had was exceptional, and my wife said the crème brûlée she had for pudding was so good she wanted to have a funeral for it once it was all gone."
