Both a Chinese takeaway and Asian supermarket are up for sale - but they remain open for business in a city suburb.

The owners of Lucky Wok and Oriental Market in Colman Road, Mount Pleasant, announced the shops were on the market on Wednesday, December 4, saying the properties were "good business opportunities".

A spokesman for the shops also confirmed both businesses were now on the market.

The Oriental Market and Lucky Wok are located next door to each other in the Bunnett Square parade of shops in between Colman News and the Flour and Bean cafe and bakery.

Norwich Evening News:

Liberal Democrat Norwich City Councillor, Judith Lubbock, said empty shops were not uncommon in the area and hoped the businesses found a new owner soon.

Ms Lubbock said: "We still have two pizza takeaways and an Indian plus a new restaurant coming in there.

"Those businesses were never a problem and were well used by the community.

"I am worried that a new tenant would possibly come in and open late into the night and cause a disturbance.

"Overall that parade of shops is still useful and I am glad we don't have too many empties there, but there's another parade further down and that does have some.

Norwich Evening News:

"Hopefully they will be replaced by something useful to the area which will be important to them.

"I wouldn't be surprised if someone else comes in because they already have permission to operate as a shop and a takeaway.

"It's really popular at the moment to open these food businesses so I'm pretty sure it will be filled."

It comes after one pizza chain in the area announced it was planning to extend its opening hours by an extra five hours a day.

Recently shops in the area were targetted by vandals on a glass-breaking spree, with Colman News and Corner Stores hit by damage.
