1. The Waffle House

It comes as no surprise that one of Norwich's longest-standing and most beloved restaurants tops the list. The Waffle House has been serving its signature Belgian-style waffles since 1978, with a large selection of sweet and savoury toppings and seasonally-inspired specials perfect for any occasion. 

 

2. Shiki Japanese Restaurant

Situated in historic Tombland, Shiki offers a whole lot more than just a great view of the Cathedral. In fact, Shiki's authentic Japanese menu will have you feeling closer to Tokyo than Tombland. Take your pick between lunch, 12pm-2pm, or dinner, 5.30pm-10.00pm, every Monday to Saturday. 

 

3. Döner by Tante Anne

Open since only July 2021, Norwich vegan kebab joint Döner blew the competition away in the British Kebab Awards, without even a hint of meat on the menu. In addition to the star attraction, 'Doner Komplett Mit Alles' (Doner complete with everything), the restaurant offers gyros, soups, salads and much more. 

 

4. Blue Joanna

If Asian-style street food takes your fancy, pop along to Blue Joanna in Norwich's unique Golden Triangle to try dishes such as Kung pao chicken wings and their Korean Blue Taco, as well as a host of cocktails and wines. They even have a blue piano. 

 

5. XO Kitchen

Formerly nestled in the heart of The Artichoke pub, XO Kitchen's meteoric rise in popularity led them to open a larger venue late last year to further offer their 'face-slapping flavours', beloved by critics and locals alike. The Asian-fusion-inspired cuisine has continued to captivate the city since its inception, so be warned, book well ahead! 

 

6. Jorge's

Where: 2-3 Orford Yd, Red Lion St, Norwich NR1 3TB

Readers voted Jorge's as one of their favourite restaurants and it's easy to see why. Tucked away from the hubbub of Red Lion Street, Jorge's Orford Yard location is as cosy as it is popular. Mediterranean and Portuguese tapas are the restaurant's speciality and with their open kitchen and outdoor courtyard there is little reason not to go.

 

7. Benedicts
