A woman who had a nasty fall in December has been able to track down and thank her teen heroes.

Youngsters often get a bad name in the city and its suburbs but three Taverham teens are paving the way for others as they rush to help a stranger.

Megan Wain-Smith slipped on an icy surface near her home in Taverham and cracked her head open on Monday, December 12.

Within moments three young people were trying to help her.

The 78-year-old said: “It was freezing cold but they did not hesitate to help me.

“A young lady took her coat off and covered me with it to keep me warm.

“And a young man used his coat to stem the blood from the gash in my head.”

Some of Megan’s neighbours soon arrived to help her, called 999 and brought more blankets and towels.

As she was still on the ice her husband and neighbours decided to risk moving her in order to get her warm and took her inside.

After doing this the three teens dispersed.

Megan said: “I was desperate to find them so I wrote a letter to the Norwich Evening News and EDP which was printed.”

As well as this her grandson Randle Brooks turned into a detective and scoured social media to find the three teen heroes.

Using CCTV footage provided by a neighbour the three were able to be identified.

The young woman who took her coat off wishes to remain anonymous but the two men have been identified as Casper and Dylan, who live nearby.

Megan said: “Dylan, just 19, is the amazing young man who calmly and with great presence of mind held his coat against my wound.

“There was a lot of blood but his quick action helped to stem in.”

After some time in the hospital and many stitches later, Megan is on the mend and plans to provide the three heroes with tea and homemade cake in the coming weeks as a thank you.

She said: “I am sure their employers and families are immensely proud of the way they reacted, as am I.”
