A woman has been seriously injured in a crash on the NDR after her car hit a broken-down vehicle.

The collision happened in Horsford between Reepham Road and Drayton Lane at 2.36pm today (January 17).

The woman was travelling towards Horsford roundabout when her car hit an unoccupied broken-down vehicle on the side of the road.

An air ambulance was called to the scene and the woman has been taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital by road.

The westbound lane of the NDR was closed between Reepham Rd and Drayton Lane and diversions were in place.

The Horsford roundabout was also closed and drivers were asked to avoid the area.

Norfolk Fire Service crews from Loddon and Sprowston attended and made the vehicles and scene safe.

The road had reopened by 6pm and the traffic had cleared.

Norfolk Police has said the woman remained in hospital overnight with serious injuries not thought to be life-threatening.
