The theft of a moped has created a 'nightmare' for a Heartsease teenager and is making it difficult to get to her job.
The Peugeot Kisbee 50CC was parked outside Theresa Rose’s home on Sale Road in NR7.
Now she is appealing for any information following the theft of her daughter’s moped on Saturday.
The 41-year-old said: “The bike was in excellent condition.
“My daughter, Sophie, is only 16 and after a very long search for the perfect bike - having done our CBT test together in August 2022 - we found the Peugeot in October.”
The bike set her back £1,900 with an extra £150 for the helmet.
The bike provided Sophie with transport to her job as a barista three miles away in Postwick from her home in Heartsease, with bus services needing her to go in to the city and change to head back out.
Theresa continued: “She will now have to walk, which takes one and a half hours, or cycle which of course is dangerous and exhausting.
“Or she will have to take a taxi which costs £10.50 each way – it really is a nightmare.”
Theresa had not previously noticed anyone looking at the bike and didn’t hear anything when it was stolen, and feels uneasy about how daughter will travel going forward.
“As her mother, I feel very concerned about her walking or cycling because it is cold and dark and anything could happen,” she added.
Since it has been stolen Theresa has also heard that others in the area were stolen between Friday evening and Saturday morning.
She said: “We are in shock and trying to manage, we are hoping it is found but, in the meantime, it has made it very difficult to go about our lives.
“Bikes are hard to come by and not cheap.”
Theresa hopes the thieves will see her plea.
She said: “If you know where it is, please tell me, whatever condition it is in.
“I just want my daughter to have her freedom back.”
Norfolk Constabulary said: “We have received a report that a Peugeot 50CC moped in white was stolen from a front garden in Sale Road, Norwich between the afternoon of Friday 20 January and 6.30am on Saturday 21 January 2023.
“Inquiries are ongoing.”
