After developing a love for digestive biscuits, Humphrey the pig is now fully grown and causing mischief in his city home.
There has been a famous pig in NR3 for many years, starting with Miss Wiggy who was thought to be a micro pig and later became a 26-stone home-loving hog.
Miss Wiggy died in 2022 and later Humphrey was welcomed into Julie Woodward's NR3 home.
Julie said: “Humphrey is just a quarter of Miss Wiggy's weight, though I expect his belly will get a little bigger.”
Humphrey has been a huge hit as he is a very gentle hog who loves belly rubs and is great with cats and dogs.
Julie said: “Every evening he will come in the lounge and take a cushion off the sofa and lay at my feet.
“He loves company and will always be wherever we are.
“He was also a dream to house train and has not had any accidents inside.”
Humphrey has been known for his very smelly farts though.
His favourite time of day is dinner time when he gets apple, banana, blueberries, tomatoes, sweetcorn and cucumber – and he lets everyone know he is excited by squealing while he eats.
He also appears at the feet of any person who opens the lid of the biscuit tin as he is partial to a digestive according to Julie.
She said: “If he wants one, he will sit down, and if you ask him, he will even give you a kiss for it.
“It’s a bit of a sloppy wet kiss.”
Humphrey has also become the best of friends with Julie’s 12-year-old rescue dog, the snaggle-toothed Lilylou.
Julie said: “Lilylou only has five teeth and cannot hold her tongue in her mouth and Humphrey just loves her – though she makes it clear she is still the boss.”
Julie is so pleased to once again have a pig within her home describing them as “adorable and intelligent.”
She continued: “They are so far from being the dirty animal that people portray them as.
“Pigs see people as an equal.”
