Shocking images have appeared online of someone taking part in a dangerous online craze inside a city centre tower block.
Police are now investigating images that show someone inside an elevator shaft while tagging their location at Westlegate Tower, in what looks similar to a risky activity called 'lift surfing'.
Back in August footage was posted online of a group of teenagers climbing the industrial crane overlooking St Crispins House in Duke Street, while in July a man parachuted from the crane outside Norwich Castle.
Elevator surfing, also known as lift surfing, is an activity involving riding on top of elevators, rather than inside them.
Certain "surfers" may also attempt riskier manoeuvres like jumping between moving elevators and riding the elevator's counterweight.
The stunt, originally posted on the @roman_tayl0r account on Instagram, has stunned both those living in the 12-storey building - which was converted into flats a decade ago - and the surrounding area.
Simon Masser, 73, who lives in the building added: "The people doing this are being a danger to themselves as well as anyone else in the building.
"It's disrespectful to those of us living here.
"The whole activity is ridiculous really - there's not much else I can say about it honestly."
Passing by the building was 29-year-old Daniel Johnson, who slammed the behaviour, saying: "It's just stupid in all honesty.
"It's dangerous and if the company owning the building decides to investigate this it's going to take resources away from the police.
"Clearly whoever decided to do this doesn't have many better things to do with their time."
Emily Ransome-Farmer, head of block and estate management at Watsons Property, said: "We have been notified of the illegal access of a secure premises in Westlegate Tower.
"The matter is now with the police for further investigation."
A police spokeswoman said: "We can confirm we have received a report of suspicious circumstances and are investigating this with the building owner of Westlegate Tower."
Sue George, a 64-year-old retiree passing the tower, branded the stunt as "absolutely crazy".
"I've never seen anything like it before," she added.
"They're possibly trespassing if they don't live there and it's so dangerous.
"I think they need something better to do really."
