We asked you on social media which shops and restaurants you would like to see open in Norwich and you answered in your hundreds.

Here are just nine of the suggestions.

1. IKEA

The IKEA outlet in Sweet Briar Retail Park closed in July 2021 and our readers want a giant IKEA with a restaurant to open in Norwich.

Lesley Humphries said of the former 'order and collection store': "At the smaller store, you had to order and pick up three weeks later, that's why people didn't use it.

"At the big IKEA, you can take away immediately."

The Swedish brand said it closed the Norwich store as "it was not able to meet its sales and profitability targets".

2. Costco

Norwich Evening News:

Costco, a chain of cash and carry warehouses, was a popular option among readers.

Customers need a membership card to access the warehouses which stock well-known products at warehouse prices.

The closest Costcos are in Chingford and Hertfordshire, meaning people in Norwich have to drive hours to get their hands on the store's bargains.

3. Outlet village

Many readers want a cut-price factory outlet store so they can get designer brands on a budget.

Comments asked for somewhere with "decent labels" at "slashed" prices.

Could Norwich have its own Bicester Village soon?

4. Taco Bell

The American chain opened a Taco Bell in Great Yarmouth in 2018 which closed down during the coronavirus pandemic.

Taco Bell, which was founded in California in 1962, has a branch in Lowestoft with plans to open in Ipswich and Haverhill - could Norwich be next on the list?

5. Selfridges

Norwich has seen the closure of Debenhams and House of Fraser in Chantry Place is closed until autumn for a refurb.

Some readers suggested another high-end department store, such as Selfridges, would be a good addition to the city.

Jarrold and John Lewis are two department stores currently open in Norwich.

6. LEGO Store

Austen Nuttall was one of the readers who suggested a LEGO store, stating that the nearest shops are in London or Milton Keynes.

LEGO is stocked in stores across Norwich including Jarrold and Langleys.

As well as stocking hundreds of types of the building blocks, LEGO stores also offer play areas and hands-on events.

The fast food chain is a lunchtime favourite in London and other cities but has never opened a store in Norwich.

Leon says its food is "inspired by the flavours, variety and natural healthiness of the Mediterranean diet" and it opened its first store in 2004.

A location in Norwich Station could be a welcomed addition with a couple of the retail units currently empty.
