Work on the £1.8m community centre in Easton is in full swing.
Easton Parish Council held a breaking ground ceremony earlier this month for the long-awaited addition to the village.
The centre, in Marlingford Road, is set to be opened in October 2023.
Vice chairman of the parish council, Peter Milliken, said: "Following the breaking ground ceremony that took place at the beginning of February, the foundations for the new community centre have now been poured.
"The next stage, which will be commencing soon, is the start of actual construction when we’ll see the building start to take shape.
"The community centre will be the heart of the Easton community and has been in planning for a few years, so it’s wonderful to see the work moving along swiftly."
The building is needed as the village on the edge of Norwich, near the Norfolk Showground, is expected to expand from 600 homes to 1,500 over the next few years.
It will also provide 24-hour access for emergency service workers to have a shower and a hot drink close to the A47.
