A 27-year-old woman has been left shaken after being approached by a man while dispatching parcels.

Jessica Kelly, from Hellesdon, was putting some parcels in the InPost lockers in the car park of the Lidl supermarket in Mile Cross on Wednesday evening.

Sending clothes that she has sold on Vinted, she was given a fright outside the Drayton Road store at around 7.30pm when she noticed a man walking towards her.

She said: “He was looking at the floor but walked from the steps straight to the InPost locker and not towards the entrance to Lidl but he had his hood up and no parcels in his hand.

“I quickly got into my car and locked the doors – however, he came up to my window and said something.

“I replied ‘no sorry’ and he looked disappointed that I didn’t speak to him or wind my window down.”

When Jessica started to reverse her car to leave, she noticed another vehicle on her passenger side.

She continued: “I feel shaken up, I think about what could have happened and what they could have wanted.

“I would tell other people to go in the daytime when the car park is lit up, and if you have to go at night, go with someone.”

Norfolk Police confirmed they received a report of suspicious circumstances at 7.43pm on Wednesday, February 15 but a Lidl spokesman was unable to comment as the incident hadn't been reported to them.

Jessica hopes that Lidl and InPost will consider moving the lockers to a part of the car park that is better lit but, in the meantime, is urging others to be wary of using the lockers when it is dark.

She added: “I have been many times before for the same reasons and never had an incident which is why I believed it was safe to do it.”
