Work is under way to put on a party to remember for a Norwich woman ahead of her 100th birthday.
Alma Southgate was born April 6, 1923 in Woodbastwick and is one of seven children - four boys and three girls.
Alma worked for many years as a female bus conductor and owned her own business in Colindeep Lane, Sprowston selling clothes and shoes.
Her husband of 52 years, Herbert 'Bob' Southgate, worked for Anglia TV as head of outside broadcasting.
The couple has a son, Michael, who says celebrating his mother's 100th birthday will be "such a proud moment and an amazing milestone".
She will celebrate on Thursday, April 6 with a 1920s-themed party decked out with balloons, cake and a singer booked to sing songs from that era.
Her care home is also calling on Alma's friends and well-wishing strangers from Norwich and beyond to send the soon-to-be centenarian a birthday card ahead of her special day, with the hope of receiving a card for each year of her life.
Alma - who lives at The Warren in Wroxham Road, Sprowston - loves all sorts of fun and games, her favourite being having afternoon tea with alpacas.
"At my age you would think I would have seen everything, and yet I’d never met an alpaca before," she exclaimed.
Kirstie Tifrani, activities coordinator at The Warren, said: "She is a proud lady and likes to look nice - she always wears a brightly coloured dress and will greet me in the morning with a cheerful 'hello darling'.
"She is so happy and cheerful. It’s a pleasure to know Alma and arrange such an amazing party for her 100th birthday."
Cards can be sent to Alma Southgate at The Warren Care Home, 157a Wroxham Rd, Norwich, NR7 8AF.
