The new store plans to offer similar goods to its predecessor with a planning application submitted to Norwich City Council on Thursday, February 16, claiming it will offer dry and cooled international foods.
Owner Mr M Akbar could install new fridges and also plans to make alterations and renovation to the "dilapidated" shopfront.
Hanging signs will also be put up at the Grade III-listed shop and there are plans to strip out parts of the interior.
The shop's entrance will see a total overhaul with the current two-door set-up to be replaced with a grey front with glass double doors.
It is hoped a decision on the new store will be reached by Thursday, April 13.
Anyone wishing to comment on the application has until Monday, March 13.
