A new online radio station hopes to fill the gaps left by cuts to BBC Radio Norfolk with plans to help new artists in the region.
Anglian Hits Radio will launch on Monday, February 27, and its founder Rob Lee is hoping its "enjoyable" local content will fill the void as the BBC drops the majority of its local radio shows.
It comes after the national broadcaster announced it was to cut all local programming other than that hosted between 6am and 2pm on weekdays, with only sports commentary remaining on weekends.
Mr Lee says he hopes his station will be able to fill the gaps left by programmes such as BBC Radio Norfolk Introducing with a new show dedicated to the latest local groups.
He previously launched the Variety station in 2019, which is still going strong today.
The station will also feature typical radio shows such as morning and drivetime with hopes it will eventually feature specialised music and chat segments.
Mr Lee said: "The idea came from previous places I've worked in online radio.
"I struggled to get into broadcasting but I got there eventually and now I want to do something which focuses on East Anglia solely.
"We'll focus on local content and travel. I moved to Norwich from Essex many years ago and I really want to do a station which is not national and is relevant to people who live here.
"A lot of local radio is dying out now and I've got a passion for it so I want to stop generic shows which aren't relevant to local people."
Mr Lee added: "We'd love people to come forward and volunteer to do something on the station and we also want to get the word out and let everyone know we're here."
