One of Norwich's newest cocktail bars is to reopen this afternoon (Friday) after it initially intended to close for almost a month following a licencing objection.
The objection meant Silhouette, which opened in Norwich's Timberhill area last month, is unable to serve alcohol until a city council meeting on March 10 decides the fate of its licence.
But now the venue will reopen this lunchtime after boss Carlos Magalhaes decided to run his business without booze for the time being.
A statement released by the bar read: "We will be re-opening serving only food, soft drinks, mocktails and milkshakes.
"Unfortunately, we cannot serve alcohol for the time being.
"If you have a reservation before the 10th of March and wish to cancel due to there being no alcohol, please let us know.
"We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and hope everyone can be patient with us until the matter is resolved."
It comes after Mr Magalhaes slammed the council, predicting the lack of alcohol would cost him around £80,000.
He said: "The council have been totally useless in trying to help. It's going to cost me between £70,000 and £80,000.
"It's someone with nothing better to do just doing it to cause trouble."
Mr Magalhaes believes a noise complaint was made prior to his ownership of the building.
He added: "We didn't have any complaints made against our business or ourselves. We applied for the premises licence on December 20.
"I was running the business and was told if there were no objections I should have my premises licence on February 14. After the consultation someone objected on February 13 which made our lives a bit complicated.
"I'm just trying to run my business without interferences. We're very responsible and our aim is to make friends not enemies."
Norwich City Council received two complaints about noise but one has been withdrawn.
