A city pub is closing for a major refurb as the owners feel the interior needs “a bit of love”.

The Trafford Arms, in Trafford Road, is closing on Monday, March 6, with the work expected to be finished later the same month.

Since taking on the boozer in 2015, Nick and Briony De’Ath, who also own the Unthank Arms and the Warwick Arms, have maintained the traditional community feel of the pub as well as continuing the Valentine’s Beer Festival and its monthly quizzes.

Nick said: "The Trafford is at the heart of the local community and we really haven’t needed to change anything since we took over but we, and our team, feel that the time is right to show the interior a bit of love."

Changes being made to the pub include the colours and fabrics in the interior and new high tables and sofas for customers to relax in.

Briony added: "There’s something very special about the Trafford and it’s been a favourite through many generations so we don’t want to change too much."
