A consultation has been launched asking for feedback on initial plans for a city centre play park's impending revamp.

Norwich City Council is running a public consultation about upgrading the equipment at the play area in St Georges Street, near Norwich Playhouse.

The council would like to hear from anyone who uses, or would use, the play area about their preferred choice of design and other ideas of what they would like to see included.

It comes after the popular play area in Wensum Park re-opened after going through its own £100,000 makeover and with a new play area opening in Douro Place last month.

The public consultation opened on March 6 and will close on Friday, March 17, 2023.

Green Party councillor Jamie Osborn, who represents the Mancroft ward, said: "This is a well-used play area, and one of the few green spaces in the north city centre.

"It's good to see investment in maintaining and improving it.

"Norwich needs more small play areas so that children can play safely and happily outdoors.

"The city council should be taking on board local people's requests for play areas in other parts of the city centre, notably Ely Street, where the play area has been closed for five years."

There are two ways people can give their thoughts on what to kit out the play area with.

The first is a survey where people can choose their preferred design option, from a "traditional" or "urban" design, while providing any additional thoughts.

The second is to attend St Georges play area on either March 9 or 10, between midday and 1pm and speak with the council's park and open spaces officer about the design of the space.
