A long-standing skatepark which was on the brink of closure has a chance to continue cruising after landing the money it needs to change over its lease.

Delta Four Skatepark, located in Delta Close off Mile Cross Lane, needed to change over the lease, from a limited company to a community interest company (CIC), in order to receive funding and improve the park for its users.

Now after a rocky few months the wheels are in motion to change over the lease and inject new life into the park.

Max Ward, who has owned Delta Four Skatepark since June 2020, saw a "a dramatic loss of earnings" recently and called on the good people of Norwich to help the company become not-for-profit.

Upon learning the target had been hit the 25-year-old said: "A lot of stress lifted when I saw it tick over the £2,500 goal - it was a relief.

"We had a lot of parents of the kids who come here, see the value of what we do and know it's a good place for them.

"It's great to see people are willing to help and have the backing of our community who want to see the park carry on.

"Before we posted the GoFundMe it was harder to understand if we'd hit the target in the timeframe we wanted, but after the first week we quickly realised the goal would be reached and that's thanks to everyone who donated."

The skatepark, which initially opened in 2013, now has the opportunity for funding from different bodies.

Max added: "It's exciting because it's now becoming more of a reality that we can improve the park and make it better for everyone.

"Ideas we've had for improving the park while expanding our other facilities like the shop area, viewing platform, and café can now take shape."
