A newly-revamped and rebranded drinking spot in the heart of the Norwich Lanes has received national recognition after less than six months open.

The Drawing Rooms opened at the former Birdcage site in Pottergate in late October 2022 and it is now run by business partners Frances Chisholm and Pete Harvey.

It has an art deco-feel and is inspired by the building's history as an architect's office.

The pair are also behind The Wildman and The Ten Bells in Norwich and all three are known for their top-notch cocktails.

The Drawing Rooms building is owned by Greene King and was shortlisted for pub of the year at its Night of Excellence Awards 2023, which took place on March 20 in Warwickshire.

While The Stag at Lyndhurst in Hampshire won, Greene King has 2,700 premises across the UK so it is a big achievement just to be shortlisted.

Miss Chisholm said: "We put so much work into changing it from The Birdcage and are so proud of where we are now.

"The recognition felt amazing and Matteo [Drawing Rooms manager] has put in so much effort with the team."
