A few months ago I had not heard of the names Georgia Harrison and Stephen Bear.

But after Bear was brought to court on charges of voyeurism and sharing private sexual videos without consent, his name was all over the news.

The reality personality was accused of sharing CCTV footage of him having sex with his then partner Georgia Harrison, who is a reality star from Love Island and The Only Way is Essex, in his garden three years ago.

Bear, 32, was found guilty of all the charges by a jury at Chelmsford Crown Court in December last year and sentenced in March at the same court to 21 months in prison.

The former Celebrity Big Brother winner was also put on the sex offenders’ register for leaking the video on his OnlyFans account without Miss Harrison’s consent.

Hearing the details from the court case in the press was horrible enough but the true horror of how the crimes affected Miss Harrison, 27, in a documentary which aired this week was shocking.

To help her get evidence for her case, she waived her anonymity as a victim of a sexual offences act, and that was key in Bear getting a tough sentence.

I watched the Revenge Porn: Georgia vs Bear documentary on ITV2 with interest and it was clear to see the damaging effects on her mental and physical health, from clips taken after the video was leaked to police charging Bear to the court sentencing.

Despite that though, she remained determined to speak out about the devastating impact of revenge porn.

As she eloquently explained, she wants to give hope to other victims and shine a light on this crime which takes place far too often.

Social media is here to stay and measures need to be in place to protect people from this abhorrent violation.
