As the rising cost of living bites, many of us are looking for ways to eat out without breaking the bank. 

Here are five places to grab an evening meal within a tenner.

1. Grosvenor Fish Bar

Grab a range of meals without stretching the purse strings from the popular chip shop stop in Norwich lanes.

Steak and chicken pies are £6, beef burgers are £5.20 and scampi is £6. Add chips for £2.80.

They were named one of the 40 finalists in the takeaway category at The National Fish and Chip Awards 2023.

2. Cocina Mia

Get a "taste of Chile" on Norwich Market at Cosina Mia.

Empanadas, including spiced beef, chicken and chorizo and roasted vegetables, start at £6, with sides priced at £3.

Evening dining is back from 5pm until 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays, which will extend to 9pm in the summer. 

Cocina Mia, opened by Ana Bridgman in 2017, is offering a special menu including empanadas with fries and salad, sharing platters, chimichurri steak and pan-fried sea bass.

3. The Waffle House

Established in 1978, the much-loved and famed Waffle House is a great place to grab a cheap bite.

Options on a waffle under £10 include cheese sauce and local Waveney mushrooms; hummus avocado and sun-blush tomatoes; and oriental vegetable stir fry.

4. Fupburger

On a Monday, Fupbuger, located at The Ten Bells in St Benedicts Street, offer buy one get one free, with "no catch, no fuss". 

Buy a burger for £11 and get the second one free.

5. The Rumsey Wells

Grab a pub classic of Pie, mash and gravy for £10 as you enjoy a pint or two.

The pub offers a range of Pieminister pies including British beef steak and ale; chestnut mushroom, tomato, quinoa, baby onion and red wine; and tofu ‘chicken’ with leek, smoked garlic and white wine.

Rumsey Wells also offers Brick pizza, starting at £9.50.
