A bed superstore on the outskirts of the city is to be demolished after it closed.
World of Beds in Curtis Road in Mile Cross is to make way for seven new homes with plans to demolish the old building in July.
The land will then see five three-bed and two two-bed properties built on it after plans were approved by Norwich City Council in March last year.
Now, developers Cannon Clarke Architects, have applied for permission to demolish the store ahead of plans to start work in June.
Ahead of last year's meeting which saw the new homes approved, nine neighbours wrote to the council about the scheme, with concerns about overlooking and loss of privacy.
But council officer Maria Hammond said she considered the plans to be suitable, redeveloping a prominent but irregularly shaped plot, saying visual impacts could be mitigated.
There have been no objections to the demolition plans.
While the demolition takes place the building will be covered in a six-foot-high dark blue timber hoarding.
Those wishing to comment on the plans have until April 24, with hopes a decision can be made by May 22.
