From kitting out kicks and hurling out handbags, a site on Norwich's outer ring road is set to enter a new era as the finishing touches are put on a new care home.
Mousehold View Care Home, an Avery Healthcare facility in Mousehold Lane, will open this summer on a site steep in long-standing history.
The site succeeds the Diana Works factory that produced the famous Maclaren ‘Mac’ Handbags and in latter years belonged to the world famous Start-Rite Shoes.

The conversion to a 79-bed home started in 2020 with news last year of turning the back half of the plot into a block of 45 affordable apartments for the over-55s coming much to the joy of neighbours who branded the old site an "eyesore".
The care home is set to open this summer.
Avery Healthcare home manager Nigel Reeve was on hand with customer service manager Dan Amis to assist by laying the last bricks on the new home’s terrace.
Mousehold View will provide residential care, dementia care and respite stays that can be booked a year in advance when it opens in the summer.
In the run-up to its opening, a charity-centred competition has been launched for locals to name three of the floors of the home.
Dan said: "We have three floors at Mousehold View that need naming and we will donate £250 to the charity of the winner’s choice.
"Growing up in Norfolk, visiting Norwich frequently and having worn Start-Rite shoes myself as a child some names have certainly crossed my mind but we wanted the community to be part of the process - which makes this next moment in the journey of Mousehold View even more special."
To enter the home’s communities naming competition email Dan Amis at daniel.amis@averyhealthcare.co.uk. Entries close at the end of June 2023.
