From a steam gala to a fun dog show, there are a whole host of events running over the early May bank holiday weekend in Norfolk.

1. Sandringham Food, Craft and Wood Festival

Where: Sandringham Estate, PE35 6EN

When: April 29-May 1, 10am-6pm 

Price: Adults: £12, over 65s: £11, children (5-15): £4 - advance prices at livingheritagecountryshows.com, £13/£12/£5 on the gate 

This bumper three-day festival will feature an array of displays and demonstrations, including a chainsaw carving competition.

There will also be a food and drink market, street food vendors and bars, live music and chef demonstrations from the likes of Galton Blackiston and Jack Stein.

2. Dad's Army Live

Where: Weybourne Station, North Norfolk Railway, High Kelling, NR25 6QU (car park closed at Weybourne so park at Sheringham or Holt stations) 

When: April 29-May 1, 10am-5pm 

Price: Unlimited all-day travel: adults: £18.50, children: £13.50 (more on the day), book at nnrailway.co.uk

Passengers visiting over the bank holiday weekend will be able to join in with Dad’s Army Live, offering three days of live music, classic vehicles and wartime capers.

Weybourne Station appeared as Walmington-on-Sea railway station in the Dad’s Army episode 'The Royal Train', which first aired in 1973 so this year marks the 50th anniversary. 

Visit and travel on two powerful steam locomotives as they haul trains of restored steam-era carriages.

3. Heritage Steam Gala 

Where: Bressingham Steam and Gardens, Low Road, Bressingham, IP22 2AA

When: April 29-May 1, 10am-5pm 

Price: Adults (16+): from £15.44, over 65s: from £14.53, children (3-16): from £9.99, under 3s free, entry only: £12, book on Bressingham website 

The annual Heritage Steam Gala is back and all four of the railways are set to be in operation over the weekend.

There will also be visiting road steam engines, steam farmyard demonstrations and a mixture of stationary and portable engines running.

4. Creake Abbey Farmers' Market

Where: Creake Abbey, North Creake, Fakenham, NR21 9LF

When: April 29, 9.30am-1pm 

Price: Free entry 

The May Farmers’ Market has been moved to April 29 so it does not clash with the coronation of King Charles III. 

There will be a whole host of local businesses involved as ever, ranging from Hestia Patisserie to WhataHoot gin, with street food and coffee on the day too.

5. The Overstrand Fun Dog Show

Where: The Sea Marge Hotel, Overstrand, NR27 0AB

When: May 1, 1pm-5pm

Price: Free entry, £1 per class to enter 

There are 12 classes your four-legged friend can enter including waggiest tail, lookalike and best rescue.

The 'best village dog' wins the Mickey Sewell Perpetual Cup, named after the show’s original organiser.

As well as the competition, there will be an agility course, stalls, a raffle and lots of cakes to enjoy, with food and drinks available all day from the hotel too.

6. Titanic the Musical

7. Pirates Live

Where: Hippodrome Circus, St George's Road, Great Yarmouth, NR30 2EU

The month-long run of Pirates Live comes to an end on May 1, so you only have limited time left to see it. 

It combines jaw-dropping circus stunts, pirate comedy scenes and aerial artistry.
