A quiet community has been left shocked after a night of "flashing blue lights" followed an incident which saw a woman and child hospitalised.
Emergency services were called to the A1067 Fakenham Road in Taverham, near the Shell petrol station, at 9.54pm on Friday, April 21, after the pair fell from a moving blue Volvo V40.
The woman involved in the incident, in her 30s, remains in Addenbrooke's Hospital with "life-changing injuries" but police confirmed on Tuesday the child has been discharged from the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital.
Police are yet to release further details as an investigation continues but those living nearby have spoken of the "commotion" which happened on Friday evening.
Karen Last lives in Fakenham Road next to the Shell Garage and said: "I heard a lot of commotion after the incident happened, just before 10pm.
"I didn't see what happened and all I could see were a lot of flashing blue lights.
"Later we had an issue with lots of people turning around in our driveway, due to the road closure.
"I ended up going to bed around 1am and the services were still there - I think they finished at roughly 2am."

Police say they would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who has any dashcam footage.
Caroline Karimi-Ghovanlou, chairman of Taverham Parish Council, added: "I was horrified to hear what happened.

"You don't expect something like this to happen in Taverham.
"I'm shocked and only hope that the woman and child involved are alright."
Another person living near the scene, Darren Mark, said: "We'd just come back off holiday and arrived home around lunchtime on Monday.
"The police posted a leaflet through our door asking if they could see our CCTV footage.
"We couldn't see much but there seemed to be a large group of flashing lights in the corner of the footage, so something bad must have happened."
