An increase in scammers targeting Norwich has continued after cold callers were reported at large on the outskirts of the city.

Bogus patio and driveway cleaners were reported at large on the streets of Eaton earlier this month after police said the city was seeing more scammers in 2023.

Fine City fraudsters are also getting "more sophisticated" and more convincing according to cops.

This latest trick sees cold callers knock on doors and offer to do work on their homes for an extortionate price before slowly lowering the price until the victim accepts.

Norfolk Trading Standards has advised people never to deal with traders who approach them out of the blue.

The regulator says fraudsters are still operating and has warned they could move on to other parts of Norwich and Norfolk.

Other scams operating in the city this year include fraudsters pretending to be police detectives in an attempt to access victims' bank accounts and even stooping as low as to make a fake missing poster for a girl from Sprowston to harvest personal information.

Anyone sighting cold callers in the city should call the Citizens Advice consumer helpline on 0808 223 1133 or Norfolk Police via 101.

If anyone is being intimidated or scammers are targeting vulnerable neighbours 999 should be called.
