A dessert bar on a conveyor belt is set to open in the city centre next week.
The Yalm food hall in the Royal Arcade will use the conveyor belt to present Milk desserts which consist of soft-serve ice cream, desserts and breakfast pastries alongside sweet treats from other Yalm kitchens.
Milk has been operating alongside its sister brand Toast Kitchen in the first floor of Yalm, but the dessert bar will be on the ground floor.
Tom Ginn, founder of Toast and Milk, said: “We have been bowled over by the demand we have had in the food hall for our soft-serve ice cream and it is that customer support that has convinced us to open the new dessert bar.

“The ground floor cafe bar is perfect to present our all-day offering and will enable us to serve up a much wider selection of delicious desserts and breakfast pastries.”
Dan Searle, operations manager at Yalm, said: “When we opened Yalm we said we would be bold with our choice of vendors and were prepared to experiment with what we presented to our customers.
“Milk’s soft-serve ice cream has been a real hit with many of our customers who just keep coming back for more so it’s great that Tom and his team will now have a dedicated dessert bar to run.

“We have paused the cheese and wine offering from Flying Saucers for the time being but hope to incorporate a high-quality cheese and wine offering within Yalm in the not-too-distant future.
“I am sure the new dessert bar, which will showcase the desserts and breakfast goodies from Yalm’s kitchens, will prove to be a huge attraction to passing customers.”
The dessert bar is set to open on Tuesday, May 2 and will serve breakfast from 8am every day.
