A woman who got her dream bike for Christmas has been left devastated to find it had been stolen while she was working.

Dr Hattie Hearn, from Heartsease, got her electric bike for Christmas.

Hattie, 30, said: “I’d wanted an electric bike for so long as I struggle to get up Ketts Hill when going to and from the city.

“It cost £1,000, my husband saved up for a few months to afford it.”

To add to the devastation Hattie had just purchased a trailer for the swanky bike in order to take her two-year-old dog, Dixie, on bike rides in the summer.

She said: “Dixie would have absolutely loved it – I used the bike at the weekends to get into the city and for bike rides along Marriott's Way as well as to get to work in Wroxham.

“I also had a full summer of bike rides planned for me and Dixie.”

But just days after she bought the trailer when she headed to a work event in London, she returned to where she had locked it, at the bicycle racks at Norwich Rail Station, to find it gone.

The bike was locked up at 7.20am on Wednesday (May 10) and when Hattie returned at 8.20pm it was missing, during a stormy evening.

She added: “It was a very wet 40-minute walk home!"

But Hattie is still hopeful that she can get her beloved bike back.

She said: “To the person who took it, I would ask them to do the right thing and hand it in.

"The bike has been registered as stolen so I think they will have trouble trying to sell it.

"It might just be a bike to them, but it is an important part of my life."
