A jewellery artist inspired by the natural world has made her dream of running her own shop a reality after opening in the city.

Lovisa Sörenson, an artist from Sweden, welcomed her first customers on Saturday at her store in St Giles Street.

Her pieces are inspired by her childhood growing up surrounded by the wild coastal beauty of her home on Hönö, an island close to the city of Gothenburg.

Ms Sörenson, who trained as a goldsmith in Copenhagen before taking up jewellery making during her studies, moved to Norwich a year and a half ago with her fiancée Sam Tilston and her three-year-old son.

"We love it here so much," she said. "It is a very friendly place.

"Before we were living in London and I was shocked at first with how welcoming everyone is and that people wanted to have a proper chat."

The space doubles as Ms Sörenson's workshop, where she will create her handmade gold and silver pieces that she describes as "beautifully simple designs" that are inspired by the natural world.
