Parents of pupils at a school near Norwich have been warned about an increased police presence outside its gates after an attempted robbery.

In a letter to parents, Framingham Earl High School headteacher Becky Arnold informed them that due to anti-social behaviour near the school, there would be regular police patrols in the Poringland area.

The increased police presence is in response to an attempted robbery on Friday, May 12.

Two suspects were reported to have intimidated a group of victims, demanding they hand over valuables.

Police arrested two teenage boys in connection with the incident on Saturday, May 13.

The letter said: "The police increase is in relation to an incident that occurred outside of the school with young people who do not attend Fram behaving in an anti-social manner.

"We have been reassured that the purpose of the presence is to support the community and to complete any required follow-up with those involved."

The school has said that they welcome the police being in and around their community, seeing it as a way to "support good order and safety".

Framingham Earl, part of the Sapienta Education Trust, was praised by Ofsted after an inspection in October 2022 due to its well-behaved pupils and the school's teaching methods.

The two teenage boys have been released on bail until Monday, June 26.
