The new restaurant which could replace a city centre dessert parlour has been revealed.

Grilled chicken chain Cluck'd is to open in the former Westlegate site of Mindoro, which closed in 2019.

The Ipswich-based business has submitted plans to replace the store's shop front and refurbish its interior with new tables and chairs and a digital menu board.

The new business says it will employ 30 to 40 members of staff at the new restaurant, which will also have an outdoor seating area.

Previously, estate agents Bidwells had said the new tenant has 100 restaurants nationally, however, this appears to be the business's first high-street restaurant.

If plans are approved, the business will open from 11am to 11pm every day, including bank holidays.

When departing the store in 2019, Mindoro blamed weeks of disruption to trade in the area after a chunk of cladding was blown off Norwich's Westlegate Tower.

The new restaurant will have a green and orange front promising "grilled chicken your way".

It is also planning to reduce the number of customer entrances at the site.

Those wishing to comment on the plans have until June 14 and it is hoped a decision will be made by July 14.
