Yobs have been caught on CCTV committing "mindless vandalism" outside a city home.

The incident occurred during the early hours of Monday, May 29, when someone was seen breaking a driveway parking light attached to the pillar of a gate in Colindeep Lane, Sprowston.

The victim of the unprovoked damage asked not to be named, claiming they were "afraid of even more retaliation".

They said: "This is now the second time the lights have been damaged - I'm fed up with it.

"I attached some blue lights on to the pillars of my gate about two years ago, which leads to the driveway, to help me park when it gets dark as my van doesn't have a rear window.

"Some people kept twisting the light so it shined into my neighbours' window before they simply broke it.

"I bought another two, more expensive, metal ones - about £25 each - and all was okay for about six months.

"During the early hours of bank holiday Monday someone came along, grabbed hold of the light and with sheer brute force, twisted it until it broke."

The incident was caught on the owner's CCTV camera outside the front of their house as a small group went past the driveway and has been reported to the police.

It has caused them to give up on replacing the equipment a third time.

They added: "It's just unnecessary, mindless vandalism - I honestly don't know why people do it - I've lived here for around 12 years and haven't experienced anything like this before.

"It's not harming anyone so it makes no sense why someone would do something so stupid.

"I'm now worried I might damage the van, so it's just replacing one worry with another."
