An empty shop on a busy city centre shopping street is set to get a new tenant.

The YMCA is moving in to the former Shoe Zone unit in St Stephens Street, adding to its stores Norwich stores.

The charity has stores in Castle Quarter and Anglia Square but has announced it will be opening another store for bargain hunters to peruse.

With the cost of living crisis contributing to shopping secondhand becoming more popular, more charity and vintage shops have been popping up.

The new store is looking for volunteers ahead of a planned opening at 51-53 St Stephens Street on Friday, June 9.

Andrew Smith, the regional area manager for YMCA, said: "YMCA is opening our fourth store to build on our partnership with YMCA Norfolk, helping to raise more funds for young people in the area and the wider community.

"Our team look forward to welcoming customers new and old very soon – along with anyone kind enough to volunteer their time or donations.

"Every item or hour given makes a difference."

The shop is set to be open seven days a week between 9am and 5.30pm.
