A time-bending thriller produced by a Norwich filmmaker is set to be screened in the Fine City after earning award nominations.

Former Town Close School pupil Paul Desira is one of the producers of Breaking Infinity, which is being shown at Cinema City tonight (June 6).

The sci-fi film is being toured at cinemas across the UK and follows a research scientist named Liam who has become 'unstuck' in time.

The film recently gained plaudits in the USA at the Boston Science Fiction Film Festival, where Marianna Dean won Best First Time Director, also earning nominations for best editing and best actor for star Neil Bishop.

It is also up for three awards at the 2023 UK National Film Awards, alongside a host of star names, for Best Feature Film, Best Director and Best Independent Film.

Born near Diss, Paul moved to Norwich when he was 16 and has spent most of his life in the Fine City and the surrounding area.

He graduated television and film studies at York St John University in 2001 and says he “has always had a passion for film”.

Paul has had some of his previous productions screened at Cinema City, including Evil Never Dies in 2013.

“It means a lot to have the screening at Cinema City," he said. "A lot of places in Norwich for independent films have shut down over the years but Cinema City has stuck around.

"Norwich is a great city and home for independent film.”
