A path and cycle lane in Norwich's Riverside area is to close until the end of the year as work to convert a former pub site into homes continues.

Part of the King Street footpath and cycle path will close from Thursday, June 29, as £7m work to build 41 homes in place of the former Ferry Boat Inn continues.

The cycle lane will shut from the Novi Sad Friendship Bridge to its junction with King Street, as will the footpath from the bridge for 40m northwards to allow further work to be completed.

Both are planned to reopen by Thursday, December 28, with cyclists urged to dismount and use an alternative route which will be signposted.

Diggers rolled onto the site of the former music pub in January 2021 and since then buildings have been flattened and trenches have been dug to lay foundations for new homes.

Work has seen significant delay with developers, Estateducation Ltd, having initially intended to complete the project by early 2022.

The Ferry Boat was an important part of the city's music scene - with a pub on the site since 1822 - but closed in 2006.
