The SpongeBob Musical will bring nautical nonsense to the Norwich Theatre Royal stage this summer.

Cartoon favourite SpongeBob SquarePants washes up in the city from July 4 to 8 2023 and all of his friends will be there, including Patrick Star, Sandy, Squidward, Mr Krabs, Plankton and even Gary the Snail.

The show follows these characters from the celebrated TV series as they discover a volcano will soon erupt and destroy Bikini Bottom.

The cast includes Pop Idol star Gareth Gates as Squidward and RuPaul’s Drag Race sensation Divina de Campo as Sheldon J. Plankton.

Also in the show is TikTok sensation and West End star Hannah Lowther as Karen the Computer and although he won't be there in person, Good Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold appears in a pre-recorded cameo as Perch Perkins.

Speaking about her role as Plankton, Divina de Campo said: “Plankton is an absolute treat and a massive departure for me from playing more feminine characters into a maniacal genius. It is a joy to embody that and just let rip!”

Gareth Gates said: "The vibrant aesthetics of the show and its infectious energy will really appeal to the kids.
